Naples Art Institute Presents Two Stunning Photography Exhibitions: Imogen Cunningham: A Timeless Lens on Nature, Form & Identity and Robert McCabe: Images of an Enchanted Land

Naples, FL – April 16, 2025 – Naples Art Institute is thrilled to announce the upcoming opening of two extraordinary photography exhibitions: Images of an Enchanted Land by Robert McCabe and A Timeless Lens on Nature, Form & Identity featuring the iconic work of Imogen Cunningham. Both exhibitions will be on view from Saturday, April 26 through Sunday, August 3, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the enduring power of photography through two very distinct, yet equally captivating, lenses.

Robert McCabe’s Images of an Enchanted Land captures the timeless beauty and resilience of Greece in the 1950s and 1960s. Featuring approximately 80 photographs, the exhibition reveals a nation marked by hardship yet brimming with hope and humanity. McCabe’s masterful compositions of landscapes, architectural marvels, and intimate portraits evoke a sense of wonder and reflection, inviting viewers to step into a world where history and memory intertwine. His work offers a rare glimpse into a country on the cusp of transformation, preserving the spirit of an era with remarkable emotional depth and clarity.

Complementing McCabe’s vivid storytelling is A Timeless Lens on Nature, Form & Identity, a celebration of the pioneering work of Imogen Cunningham—one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century. Spanning more than six decades, Cunningham’s career was defined by her fearless exploration of diverse subjects, from intimate botanical studies to compelling portraits. As a member of the esteemed Group f/64, Cunningham helped redefine modern photography, balancing technical mastery with a deeply personal artistic vision. This exhibition highlights the extraordinary range and sensitivity of her work, demonstrating how she transformed ordinary moments into extraordinary works of art.

“These two exhibitions offer a unique conversation between history, place, and the human experience," said Frank Verpoorten, Executive Director & Chief Curator of Naples Art Institute. "Robert McCabe and Imogen Cunningham, through very different paths, both reveal the extraordinary in the everyday and remind us of photography’s profound ability to connect us across time and culture."

Visitors to Naples Art Institute will be able to experience these exhibitions side-by-side, immersing themselves in the timeless worlds crafted by two masters of the photographic medium.
