Naples, FloridaFebruary 7, 2024 – Naples Art Institute is thrilled to announce the opening of its newest exhibition, "The Power of Photography: Iconic Images from the Collection of Peter Fetterman." Curated by pioneering collector and gallerist Peter Fetterman, this exhibition will immerse visitors in a world of captivating imagery, celebrating the profound impact of photography on our lives. The exhibition will open its doors to the public on February 10, 2024, and will be on view until April 28, 2024.

"The Power of Photography" is a transformative experience, showcasing a curated selection of over 122 original prints from Peter Fetterman's holdings. Fetterman, a pioneering collector and gallerist with over four decades of experience in championing the photographic arts, has assembled a striking array of images that capture the essence of human experience and imagination.

Naples Art Institute Executive Director and Chief Curator Frank Verpoorten believes that the powerful selection of works in this show cannot be understated, "The Power of Photography serves as a remarkable tribute to the artistry of photography, offering visitors an up-close-and-personal experience with a multitude of captivating works. One could easily spend hours immersed in the gallery, yet still not exhaust the opportunity to absorb the beauty and significance encapsulated in these pieces. For example, visitors are immediately greeted by a notable masterpiece often referred to as the "Mona Lisa of photography” - Steve McCurry's renowned portrait, "The Afghan Girl."

From the haunting humanity of Edward Weston's portraits to the iconic "Afghan Girl" captured by Steve McCurry, this exhibition brings together some of the most poignant and inspiring photographs from the 20th century. Each image serves as a time capsule, offering viewers a glimpse into days gone by while also speaking to themes of tranquility, peace, and hope for the future.

"We are honored to host 'The Power of Photography' exhibition at Naples Art Institute," said Verpoorten. "Peter Fetterman's collection represents the pinnacle of humanist photographic artistry, and we are excited to share these iconic images with our community."
