Tomaso Albertini

Meet our Artist in Residence

Tomaso Albertini, an Italian artist who recently made Naples his home after residing in New York City, embarked on a transformative artistic journey. His relocation from Italy to the vibrant heart of New York City in 2015 ignited his creative spirit and led to the evolution of a distinctive style and technique.

In this bustling metropolis, Albertini found inspiration in the stark contrast between extreme poverty and opulence, a paradox he symbolically captures using cardboard as his medium. His artistic repertoire seamlessly merges the realms of sculpture and canvas, creating a mesmerizing three-dimensional fusion.

Albertini's portrait work stands out with its unique approach, employing cardboard as a symbol of New York's consumerist culture. He sculpts his figures in three dimensions, then paints them as if they were traditional canvases, resulting in a captivating hybrid art form.

Throughout his career, Albertini has collaborated with renowned art institutions, including the esteemed Fat Free Art Gallery and Sotheby's, making his mark in the art world. His innovative work has garnered attention from notable publications such as Vice and The Guardian.
