Lecture Series During Naples National

February 20 - Feb 20, 2010
from 1 pm to 4 pm

In addition to high quality art from national artisans, this year’s festival will feature a Lecture Series on Saturday for guests to meet the artists and learn about their technique in a more intimate setting. Prominent art expert Roger Weatherburn Baker will moderate discussions with furniture designer Paul Freundt at 1 p.m., metal sculpturist Royal Miree at 2 p.m., and glass artists James and Renee Engebretson at 3 p.m. Freundt’s work appears in collections such as the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute, and Sir Elton John’s permanent collection at his London estate. Miree has won more than two dozen Best in Show and other top awards since 2005. The Engebretsons have each been blowing glass for more than 25 and have works in collections including Northwest Airlines, 3M and the University of Wisconsin. The lectures take place inside The von Liebig Art Center’s classrooms. Admission is $10 per lecture and includes wine and cheese. Call 239-262-6517 x103 for reservations. Tickets will be sold the day of the lectures based on seating availability.
