Collecting Opportunities
FESTIVALS—We also invite you to attend the two national and six local art festivals we hold annually. We are best known for our Naples National Art Festival, which is held each February and features approximately 300 artists that apply from all over the country. Our Thanksgiving weekend festival, the Naples Renaissance Fall Art Festival, includes approximately 150 that we invite to participate. And, our Art in the Park festivals feature our Naples Art Association members on the first Saturday of the month from November through April.
SPECIAL EVENTS—In addition, we hold special collecting events throughout the year.

America the Beautiful: From Clyde Butcher’s Collection to Yours
Two hundred-forty collectors and fans of preeminent Everglades and Florida landscape photographer Clyde Butcher will have a one-in-four chance to own a framed 20x30 black-and-white photograph (framed to 37 x 27 inches) from the artist’s America the Beautiful series, featured in Ken Burns’ PBS National Parks documentary, when the Naples Art Association presents From Clyde Butcher’s Collection to Yours. Throughout the evening, tickets will be drawn to find out which 60 lucky guests will take home a piece of art. Each winner will have just 90 seconds to make his or her selection. In addition, one special 36x46 photograph will be auctioned to the highest bidder. “Loxahatchee River #1 River #1, 1991” is a silver gelatin photograph, edition 36/50, taken in Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Florida. Just 240 tickets will be sold for this event. Tickets are $250 per person, $75 for a spouse (does not include entry into drawing), and $500 for Patron tickets that includes an invitation to the Patron Party with the artist one hour prior to the event. Additional $250 tickets may be purchased to increase the odds of having a winning ticket drawn. The main event begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes hors d'oeuvres, wine and musical entertainment. Jackie Butcher Obendorf is the Honorary Chair. A portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit the South Florida National Parks Trust’s campaign to purchase permanent exhibits for the Big Cypress Swamp Welcome Center being built on U.S. 41 near State Road 29. This event is sponsored by Fifth Third Bank, City Mattress, Gulfshore Life and Comcast. For more information, call Jane Davis at 239-262-6517 x115.
On February 24, 2010, we will host our annual Third on Canvas, a live painting event where you can watch the artwork develop and bid in a live and silent auction gala to own the latest piece by the 40 invited artists. In this fundraising event, held in conjunction with the Third Street South Merchants Association, up to 40 artists will be invited to paint outdoors at predetermined sites throughout the picturesque and historic Third Street South district. Shoppers and diners can watch the artwork develop over the two days and chat with the artists about their technique and process. The finished works will be exhibited at The von Liebig Art Center and sold through silent and live auction during a Gala at the art center. Gala details to follow.
