We are excited to offer volunteer internships for our eight (8) week ARTScool program which takes place during June, July and August.  These internships are designed for students from age 15–17 years.  This opportunity allows the student to work and learn in an Art Center environment and earn volunteer (community service) hours. 

ARTScool is our summer program for youth ages 5 to 14.   We provide a variety of art classes with a professional teaching staff.   The Intern helps to administer ARTScool and is considered part of the Staff under the supervision of the Teachers, Head Interns, and Director of Education.

Requirements for Internship:

• Age requirement – 15 to 17 years old.
• Must commit to 2 weeks; 80 hours of work.
• Parental Permission required.
• Recommendation from Teacher required.
• Personal Interview.

ARTSCool Description of Daily Routine:

Interns begin the day at 8:30 AM and work until 4:30 PM, Monday through the Friday.

All interns supervise and have lunch with students under the gazebo between noon and l:00 PM.

Interns are given specific assignments and are constantly monitored.  Some of their assignments are:

• Aiding Teachers in the classrooms with students.
• Providing supervision of students (i.e. lunch, break-time)
• Distribution of art supplies in accordance with instructor’s wishes
• Helping to oversee classroom management
• Assuring children are released to a parent or an authorized adult at the end of the day.

Completed Internships:

Upon completion of the internship, Interns receive the following:

• Letter of completion with total amount of hours they have volunteered. This letter can be given to their schools to fulfill their volunteer (community service) obligations.
• Certificate of Completion which can be used in college applications.
• One year free membership to The von Liebig Art Center.
